Ronnie was a native of Halifax County. He was preceded in death by his father, L. H. Powers.

He is survived by his daughter, Meagan Edmondson and her husband, Brandon, of Roanoke Rapids; his mother, Glenore Long Powers, of Gaston; two grandchildren, Jade and T. J. Edmondson; three brothers, William Patrick and his wife, Lynn, of Monta Perry, OH, Tot Powers and his wife, Kay, of Roanoke Rapids, and Jimmy Powers and his wife, Vickie, of Gaston; a special aunt, Fleta Harris of Gaston; aunts Bernie Mae Long and her husband, Charlie, of Roanoke Rapids, Margaret Long and her husband, Jamie, of Ohio and Katie Long of Halifax; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 17 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, and others times at 202 Broughton Street, Gaston, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Henry Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
